LEARN TO SKATE
Victorian Roller Derby League’s Learn to Skate ten week program offers skaters an introduction to skating skills for recreational skating or for progressing on to play roller derby. The VRDL Learn to Skate program is for those who can skate a lap of a rink unaided and are interested in learning the fundamentals of roller skating techniques and safety. The program is offered 3 times a year and is open to all genders 14 years and over. Successful completion of this program leads into our twelve week Learn To Derby program, followed by the WFTDA minimum skills testing. Next Term: To be announced Session: Mondays 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm Venue: 62-64 Oakover Road, Preston VIC 3072 (enter from Stott Street – blue door next to the boxing gym) Cost: $175 per term + $100 per year (Skate Australia insurance) Required Gear:
- Quad roller skates (not rollerblades)
- Protective equipment – helmet, elbow pads, wrist guards, knee pads
LEARN TO DERBY
The intermediate program is designed to set skaters up for the WFTDA minimum skills test after completing the VRDL Learn to Skate program and preparing to play roller derby, the twelve week Learn to Derby program teaches the fundamentals of playing the sport of roller derby. Course content includes more advanced skating skills, contact, and basic roller derby game play. This program is invite only.
